Read more about Lolo Jones and Lesley Ann Brandt
The most glamorous of careers often hide many a sad story beneath. Lolo Jones, who was the winner of the USA as well as the World Championships for hurdle events in 2013, has only been able to achieve this level by putting in a lot of effort and tremendous patience. Jones had a difficult childhood as she was raised by a single mom in a large family. Her mother was always on the move as well as having resided in a basement church for some duration. The sporadic lifestyle made it necessary for Jones to switch to a new school every year, until she began high school. When she attended Theodore Roosevelt High School Jones resided apart from her mother to pursue her interests in athletics. Jones lived in four distinct residences during her time at high school to ensure that she could attend all of her classes at one time. Jones received the Gatorade Iowa Track & Field Award for the Best Athlete at school and was also involved in the school orchestra, as a cello player. Since her college days, Jones proved to be one of the most skilled hurdlers. In 2002, at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in 2002, Jones took home the 100 meter hurdles. Also, she participated on the team that finished second in the 100-meter relay. Jones was the NCAA Champion indoor hurdles both in 2003 and 2014. The track career after she completed her studies at the end of 2005 Jones began training hard for the track. Jones won Torino Memorial in 2005, as well as Ostrava and Heusden tracks events the following year.
